How long before clipping starts working?

Nobody's first week works
Not almost nobody — effectively nobody. The account is new and the platform has not worked out who to show it to. The clips are your first, so they are your worst. And views arrive over days rather than hours, which means the number you check on Tuesday for a clip you posted on Monday is not that clip’s result. It is a fifth of it.
Most people stop somewhere around the second bar — not because it is low, but because two low bars in a row read as an answer. It is not one yet: views arrive over days, so the early weeks are still being counted when you look at them.
Why the second week is where people stop
One flat week is tolerable. Two reads as evidence, and it is at exactly that point — with a fortnight of effort behind them and nothing to show — that most people decide clipping does not work for them.
What they have actually measured is a new account during the period when a new account cannot perform, using clips from the period when their clips were worst, counted before the counting finished. Every part of that will be different in a month, and none of it is visible from inside week two.
The clippers earning real money are not, in the main, better editors than the ones who quit. They are the ones who were still posting in week four.
Knowing the curve is flat at the start is what stops you quitting. What to actually do while it is flat is the part that shortens it.
