Why do your clips suddenly get no views?

It arrives suddenly and it feels personal. The clips were fine — as good as the ones that were doing a couple of hundred last week — and now nothing. The instinctive reading is that the work got worse, so people respond by editing harder, which changes nothing, and then they stop.

Almost always it is not the editing. It is distribution: the account is being shown to very few people, or to none, and the clip never got the chance to be judged.

A new account doing badly and an account being held back look nothing alike once you know what to compare. The distinguishing feature is not how small the numbers are — it is whether they vary.

A platform testing an account produces uneven results, because it is trying different audiences and some land better than others. An account that is not being distributed produces a flat line, because nothing is being tried at all. Two or three clips is not enough to tell; four or five over several days is.

Be honest about what this is: an inference from behaviour, not a notification. No platform tells you, none of them will confirm the mechanism, and anybody who says they know the exact rule is selling something. What you can do is read the shape and act on the likeliest causes.
